Hello to all of our second graders!  We would like to welcome you to the 2025/2026 school year.  We are very excited to be working with the second graders at the Primary Education Center.  During the school year, second graders will have many wonderful experiences. The teachers are committed to helping students grow academically and socially through activities that will reflect those goals.  We encourage family support and participation in school activities and view each child's education as a partnership between school and home.

We look forward to meeting each and every one of you and embarking on this educational journey together -- becoming successful lifelong learners.

Second Grade Supply List

The first grade team encourages students to investigate and explore new things, using our creativity and knowledge to help make our school, world and home a better place to learn. The seven habits help improve ourselves and understand others better.  We are leaders building our confidence to succeed.

The first grade team embraces the departmentalizing program.  This program allows students to have a stable and secure learning environment with the opportunity to develop close personal relationships with their teachers.  Departmentalizing changes the way we think, they are not “my” kids they are “our” kids because we have a shared responsibility as a team to educate all students.

The first grade team utilizes various resources to engage and educate students at home and at school.  Some of the tools we use are monthly family projects and service learning projects in a fun and unique way to keep kids enthusiastic about learning. We also use Seesaw, Raz-Kids and monthly newsletters to create a positive home and school connection.

In our K–2 self-contained classroom, we believe that every child can learn, grow, and achieve great things. Our classroom is a safe and supportive space where students are encouraged to do their best every day. We focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, math, and communication, while also helping students develop important life skills like friendship, independence, and confidence.

Multiage Supply List

In partnership with the YMCA, we are thrilled to be able to offer a FREE full-day UPK program. 

The program is taught by UPK teachers who currently hold NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education. The Program is registered through the Office of Children and Family Services.

We build early literacy and numeracy through the following activities:
